Resso – A New Music Streaming Service In India By TikTok’s Parent Company

Seeing the ongoing popularity of TikTok services in India, it’s parent company ByteDance a Chinese Internet technology company launches Resso which is the latest music streaming company in India. Although there are many online music streaming services like JioSaavn, Gaana, Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music in India which provide different categories of music tracks and genres in many languages, Resso brings some special features which makes it different from the rest in the market.

ByteDance plans something unique for Resso by adding social element to it which includes users to interact with other people around the world depending upon their music intrests by sharing ‘Vibes’, which is nothing but a special way of expression of feelings by sharing images, GIFs or a small video visible in the background of the track interface with an option to like and comment which will be visible to others users listening to the same track. It also has an option to add and share “lyrical quotes” to users on social media platforms such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram and Twitter which helps other users to sing along with the track by seeing those lyrics.

“Gen Z and millennials are at the core of our offering and both music and social networking are central to their daily lives. Our goal is to encourage them as well as everyday music listeners to express themselves in an interactive and engaging way. The relationship between music and the listener is currently passive, with Vibes, Comments and other features, Resso aims to transform this through a new and compelling music streaming experience,” said Hari Nair, Head of Music Content and Partnership at Resso India.

Interface is something what every app needs to be customer satisfying one and Resso brings the simplest form of user interface on it’s app with visually appealing and intresting design where user can swipe up and down for changing the song or left and right for going through different Vibes updated by end users for that track. Alike many music apps, Resso asks users for their music preferences and shows playlists based on their music intrests.

Interestingly Resso has not only signed deals with many major Indian and global labels such as T-Series, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Saregama, Zee Music and more but also various independent artists to bring more content to its users.

Well, while it’s good to have such a great content but as we all know nothing comes for free and the situation with Resso is also the same. Users have to subscribe to their services which are fared at Rs. 99 per month on Android, Rs. 119 per month on iOS to get unlimited streaming and downloading of various tracks without any interruptions like online advertisements and get unlimited high quality audio just by swiping for more tracks.
